In our factory we make metal table frames for furniture manufacturers across Europe. We build bases on a single column, on four legs and on a sled — to a drawing, a concept or an existing sample. Beside dining and conference tables we also make lighter frames for the living room: coffee tables, low tables and bases for TV units. We fit the structure to the top the customer already has. Bending, welding and powder coating are done in-house. We work mainly B2B.
Central column
A base on one column leaves the top clear all round. It suits a round table and a smaller square one, where legs in the corners get in the way.

Manufactured in Karud, metal table frames with column base, black powder coat, with a timber cladding made with partners. Fixed to the floor, chamfered edges, packed for transport.
In a restaurant or café these metal table frames are easier to push against the next, and a guest can sit on any side. In a living room the same structure sits lower, under a coffee table or a dining table: shorter column, wider foot, quieter line. In a conference room or a hotel lobby the column carries a larger top. If the top is too heavy or too wide for the base to stand alone, the foot is fixed to the floor through prepared holes.
A foot or a rosette below, a fixing plate above. We build it to a drawing or a sample, and we help choose the solution if the design is still open.
Four legs
The usual base for a dining room, an office and a canteen. Legs straight or with a slight curve, tied at the bottom or left free, depending on the design. The structure is clear and takes daily use, from a café to a conference room. We can also make tapered legs.

Sled bases
Two sled legs at the sides of the top, sometimes tied with a beam or cross rails. This leaves room for the feet and sits well under a longer table, these metal table frames would match dining areas, conference, shared. If the sled is a tube, the curve is made on our benders. Where the radii change and the line should stay continuous, we use freeform tube bending.

Coffee tables, low tables and TV units
This is not a different product, only the same frame at a smaller scale. A coffee table and a low table usually sit lower than a dining table and have a lighter line: a thin leg, a low runner, sometimes two heights in a set, one sliding under the other. A base for a TV unit is longer and lower, often on runners or on a beam, so the equipment sits level and the line follows the cabinet. Also in bent rod, square or rectangular tube, or elliptical tube.

The names in the order vary. What matters to us is the drawing, model, or template: height, spacing, and whether the tabletop is a single piece or a set. If the design calls for a shelf under the tabletop, we build a frame underneath. We do not manufacture tabletops or shelves, unless they are metal; we specialize in metal table frames.

Folding tables
We also make metal table frames that fold vertically and can be moved. In a cafeteria, canteen, training room, or multi-purpose room, there’s often a need to quickly free up floor space. The same applies to hotels, where a conference room is needed in the morning and a ballroom in the evening, or to schools, where the canteen table arrangement needs to be quickly rearranged.
The legs or the entire frame fold into the tabletop, often on wheels, so the table can be rolled. The structure is heavier than that of conventional tables because it must withstand folding, not just the seat. The mechanism is designed: a hinge, a lock, a wheel, often a set of rods and axles – the tables are always accompanied by adapted kinematics. The tabletop itself, as with other tables, is the customer’s responsibility. These tables often have integrated seats.
Desk frames
Metal desk structures also bear a strong resemblance to tables. Larger contract manufacturing projects, such as hotels and schools, often require additional workstations and equipment. They are manufactured according to the interior designer’s design or the end client’s specifications (e.g., a hotel chain). Due to their durability and modern appearance, metal bases are often chosen. Here, clients also most often use tubes, rectangular or square profiles, or structures made of bent sheet metal, and sometimes even rolled sheet metal.

Design of a metal desk frame according to the design of a hotel chain, implemented and manufactured in our factory, legs made as closed skids from a 40x20x2 steel profile, the whole thing screwed together with three crossbars, lower crossbar for lateral stabilization of the structure, painted black.
What a column base is made of
The column is usually round tube, sometimes square. A smaller table can start at Ø50 mm. For a table people sit at every day we recommend from Ø60 mm. A square profile stays in a similar size, about 50–60 mm across and up, depending on the top. A wider top in a restaurant or a living room looks steadier on a thicker column. A thin column under a large top looks too light, even when the structure is sound.
The foot is sheet, shaped to the customer’s design: round, square, oval, elliptical. If the base is fixed to the floor, 6–8 mm is enough. Freestanding, especially under a larger top, it should be 10–12 mm and large enough in diameter. The fixing plate on top is matched to the tabletop, usually 4 to 6 mm sheet, depending on the proportions of the table.
The material is most often mild steel, powder coated. Outdoors we use a zinc powder primer or galvanizing. Hot-dip galvanizing is possible on heavier structures. Stainless steel is possible too, less often on a heavy base because of the cost. We agree this with the customer each time.
What legs and sleds are made of
The material here is open. Round tube, square or rectangular profile, sometimes elliptical tube or tapered tube, when the line should be softer and the frame still stable.
Beside tube and profile we also bend legs from rod, called hairpin legs. Three meet under a smaller, usually round top, four under a rectangular one. The rod is thinner than a tube leg, so the table looks lighter. It suits coffee tables, low tables and smaller tables, not a heavy conference top.
Material is most often mild steel. Outdoors, a zinc powder primer or galvanizing, and stainless steel as well. We rarely hot-dip light frames: the process pulls them out of shape.
FAQ
Do you make tabletops?
Usually not. We make metal table frames and fit them to the top the customer already has. We make tops or shelves only when they are metal.
What table bases do you build?
Column, four legs and sled. Also bent-rod legs and frames for folding tables.
Coffee tables and TV units too?
Yes. Coffee tables, low tables and TV bases are the same structures at a smaller scale..
What do you work from?
A drawing, a model or a sample. If the design is still open, we help choose the column, the foot and the spacing..
What diameter should a column be?
A smaller table can start at Ø50 mm. For a table people sit at every day we recommend from Ø60 mm.
What sheet for the base plates?
6–8 mm if the base is fixed to the floor. 10–12 mm if it stands free under a larger top.
How do you finish the frame?
Usually powder coating. On request we leave the steel raw for further work. Galvanizing is possible with our specialist partners. Large table frames often do not fit a galvanizing bath in one piece.
Can you make matching chairs?
We can create complete metal frames for the entire collection, including metal chair frames that match the style of the tables.
For a quote, a drawing, a sketch, a model or a photo of the sample is enough.
